The mission of Franklin School of Performing Arts is to enrich student's perception of their environment, stimulate their desire to learn and grow, develop self discipline and focus that can be used in every facet of life, and to look to classmates and peers for support, rather than competition.
Founder- Kaylee Cahoon
Kaylee founded the Franklin School of Performing Arts in 1991 after relocating to Tennessee from New York City. She has traveled the globe as a professional modern dancer with world renowned dance companies and artists such as modern dance pioneer Alwin Nikolais, Murray Louis, Janis Brenner, and the Dave Brubeck Quartet and taught dance to children and teens for more than 25 years. Kaylee's passion for the development of individual artistry, technical proficiency, and for an anatomical and somatic approach to movement, have provided the framework for the Franklin School of Performing Arts today, as it is carried on by teachers that were trained through their childhood directly by Kaylee. Students of Kaylee's have gone on to amazing careers in dance, theater, law, medicine, finance and much, much more. Students are learning more than 'dance' at the Franklin School of Performing Arts. They are learning about themselves.
Currently Kaylee teaches and promotes fitness for the mind and body at her Cool Springs studio, SMARTCore® Method. She is also a Structural Integration practitioner specializing in biomechanical problem solving, reeducating movement patterns, and pursuing healing.
